BaseX 7.6: The XMLPrague Edition

Hi all, we are excited to announce Version 7.6 of BaseX -- the XMLPrague Edition -- which provides some fresh new features that will further boost your productivity: DATABASE LOCKING: - updates on different databases can now be executed in parallel and won't lock your read-only queries anymore: http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Transaction_Management XQUERY - when errors are raised, the full stack trace is now returned - the EXPath Geo Module, Fetch Module and HTML Module have been added: http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Module_Library - the Validation, XSLT, Database and Profiling Module have been updated GUI - error messages are now clickable and linked with the text editor - trace/profiling output is redirected to the info view in realtime Have fun with our new release! Release BaseX 7.5 – The BaseXMas Edition

Dear subscribers, yes, it has been quite a while… Which is why we are even more excited to finally announce the release of BaseX 7.5, the BaseXMas Edition, our XML Database and XQuery Processor! Here are the latest features and changes: XQUERY UPDATE - bulk updates are now much faster than before - insert and replace operations take much less memory - databases can now be created via XQuery and db:create() GUI TEXT EDITOR - a fast and flexible search/replace panel has been added - error highlighting has been extended to XML files - the editor was improved for editing arbitrary text files XQUERY 3.0 - the code has been aligned with latest changes in the specs - HTML5 support has been updated WEB APPLICATIONS - new modules have been added: Request, Session, Sessions - logging has been revised and extended to HTTP requests - SSL support added, switched to Jetty 8 - all operation modes have been unified and simplified - RESTXQ elements added to simplify forwarding and redirects CORE FEATURES - improved stability of concurrent read/write operations - the INSPECT command performs database sanity checks - EXECUTE triggers the execution of command scripts Numerous other things have happened, which you can look up in our documentation (http://docs.basex.org). 2012 has been a great year for BaseX, which is why we are very confident that you can expect many more open source versions of our product in the future! BaseX: New XQuery 3.0 Features

Dear all, we have now added documentation to function items [1] and higher order functions [2] in our Wiki. These features are being introduced with XQuery 3.0, and they provide much more powerful ways to write real functional code with XQuery. We dare say that BaseX currently offers the most complete and up-to-date support for these new features! Thanks to our team member Leo, we will soon be able to offer the last pending 3.0 features, such as general flwor expressions, which allow an arbitrary order of FLWOR clauses (fot, let, order, group by, count, etc.) [3] By the way: BaseX 7.2 will be released in about 10 days. BaseX 7.1.1: The Feedback Release

Dear all, thanks for your feedback on our latest release, either live and direct around the XMLPrague session, or by e-mail and the mailing list! As a result, just twelve days later, we are glad to give you Version 7.1.1, which comprises stability fixes and the following improvements: GUI: -- new "Package" dialog: list, install and delete XQuery Packages -- "New/Add" dialog: increased usability, automatic detection of input formats; "RAW" format added to simplify import of raw files -- "Export" dialog enhanced to support other methods like JSON, and to specify additional serialization parameters Command-Line: -- new option -L: add trailing newline after query result -- new option -C: execute commands from batch script REST: -- new "option" parameter: set options before executing request Full-Text: -- Indonesian Stemmer (thanks Andria Arisal!)
