Hi, I would like to know: 1) the features and fixes in version 6.03 (versus version 6.0) 2) Is version 6.03 as stable as/better than version 6.0? (we are considering to migrate to the latest minor release). Thanks, Swaminathan Sahiram

XSLT processor on persistent DOM?

Hello, is there an XSLT processor available operating on the persistent DOM? I would like to avoid "in memory" transformations elevating the memory usage. Sebastian

With the 6.0 released version of BaseX.exe in Windows 7 (x64) I am encountering a serious problem, or problems. All of them relate to handling of empty sequences. A simple example is of the form: let $vcheck:=($versions,$v0) If, e.g., $versions is a non-empty sequence, but $v0 is an empty sequence, I get [XPTY0004] Invalid cast from empty-sequence to node: () To try to route around this problem I even tried something such as: let $vcheck:=if (empty($v0)) then $versions else($versions,$v0) Not even this works - I get the same error originating from the 'else' clause. In my view this probably exposes a second bug as well: the "else" clause is clearly being evaluated despite the fact that the 'if' test is true. In addition to being inefficient, this is guaranteed to cause problems in many cases, e.g., if the result of the 'else' evaluation led to something such as division by zero. Right now, I can't figure out a way to get around the problem of handling an empty sequence in any way as a workaround. (The 'union' operator also fails when one of the operands is an empty sequence, which also seems wrong.) I've tested the () sequencing in Altova XMLSpy (as an XPath 2.0 expression against a document) and it behaves as expected, simply ignoring empty sequences. Because I can't find a way to work around it presently, I would classify this as a major problem.

Problems with XML DB api

Hi, I'm having a problem with XML DB, when I'm trying to access result as DOM. I'm using this code sequence: if (res instanceof XMLResource){ XMLResource resource = (XMLResource) res; Node node = resource.getContentAsDOM(); System.out.println("Get content: " + resource.getContent()); System.out.println("Node je: " + node.getNodeName()); } everytihng goes ok, when i use resource.getContent(), i got expected results but when I try to use resource.getContetAsDOM() a got following exception: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at org.basex.query.item.DBNode.<init>(DBNode.java:50) at org.basex.api.xmldb.BXXMLResource.getContentAsDOM(BXXMLResource.java:144) at testmxquery.XQueryDatabaseSample.main(XQueryDatabaseSample.java:186) Java Result: 1 I'm using modified example from your web site. Problems with function transormation function put and namespaces

Hi Guys, I'm have problems with BASE-X and namespaces when I'm using put function for e.g declare namespace bk := "http://acision.com.uri"; put( copy $nn := doc('D:/tstxml.xml') modify insert node <x/> into $nn/site/region/bk:africa return $nn, 'D:/tstxml.xml') start of the tstxml.xml look like this <site xmlns:bk="http://acision.com.uri"> <regions> <bk:africa> I found out that when I use this the same query without specifying namespace it inserts element <x/> into bk:africa but it changes the document and it looks like: <site > <regions> <bk:africa xmlns:bk="http://acision.com.uri"> .... ... </x> </bk:africa> Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I need to use namespace prefix in put function is it possible or it's not supported by BASE-X at all? Thank for help Jiri

Dear Ms Chantola, if you want to dig in more deeply, you should have a look at the Data class. It offers basic methods for accessing the size, distance, parent, etc. for a specified pre value.
