JSON or JSONML output formatting

Hello, I've been playing with BaseX lately and all-in-all am very impressed. Something I'm wrestling with however is the JSON output options. I've got various web applications that would really be simplified by receiving JSON straight away for the obvious scripting benefits. The JSON method has been giving me a lot of grief, stipulating rules I'm not sure how to follow. right now I have an element that "is typed as string and cannot be nested." I've been able to get JSONML to output but the JSON is this morass of nested Arrays... Attributes seem to get transformed into Objects but elements/tags and their values are pushed into Arrays for some rationale - which I suppose is on purpose. My question is how can I get Objects for simple key:value properties from <tag>value</tag> 's. Are there options I'm not utilizing? Would it be feasible to transform the XML output to some middle form first - setting it up to become Objects, before serializing it to JSON? Thanks! Dynamic Module Loading

Hello, Exist-db has an util:import-module<http://exist-db.org/exist/apps/fundocs/view.html?uri=http://exist-db.org/xq…>function that allows to dynamically import an XQuery module at run time. I haven't found anything equivalent in BaseX. Is that right ? I have also tried to see how to implement such a function directly in Java, but as far as I understand the module parsing process, functions prefix are checked at compile time. That would compromise any attempt to write such a function. Am I right ? Creating a Basex database directly from tarred XML?

Hello all, Is there a known workaround for creating a db from tarred XML using the Database -> New menu? import in xsd

Hi, is the validation:xsd() function able to handle the import of other schemata? I tried to do something like <import namespace="http://bibtexml.sf.net/" schemaLocation="bibtexml-handwritten.xsd"/> to use types which are defined in this schema in my own schema. Both schema files are lying next to each other in the same basex database. The validation function doesnt throw an error that the import failed. But rather only states that it can't resolve the types i used from the other schema: Validation failed. "Fatal:src-resolve: Cannot resolve the name 'bibtex:entry' to a(n) 'type definition' component." So it seems like it just ignores the import statement. Best, Jan

Return file source of a given node?

Hello all, So, I am using Basex to inspect a gargantuan archive of XML records split over thousands of .tar files (thanks Christian for the recent fix allowing me to create a DB from tar input!). In some cases, I would like to know which file, in which tar archive, was the source for a given query result. Imagine that my DB consists of thousands of documents with root element <article>. Is there any way to return the file path of the document that was the source for result of this sort of simple query? /article[@id = '123'] Thanks, Constantine ________________________________ Elsevier B.V. typo in the BaseXwiki

Hi, The wiki-documentation of the 'map:new'-command in the map-module ( http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Map_Module#map:new) contains a typo in the third example: map:new -> Examples -> map:new(map:entry(0, "no"), map:entry(1, "yes")) should probably be: map:new((map:entry(0, "no"), map:entry(1, "yes")) Nothing much, but still. file:delete() and hidden files on Mac OS

Hi, I need to be able to export content to a clean directory. When I export content to a directory that used to exist, I need to wipe and clean to replace everything with new content. However, I am getting io-errors: Stopped at /Applications/basex/webapp/How2_StaticHTML.xqm, 738/30: [io-error] Path '/.DocumentRevisions-V100' cannot be deleted. Is there anyway from the basex side to allow deletion of hidden files or do I have to disable revisions on my computer, so these files never get created in the first place? Multiple update operations on same target element

Hi, Under BaseX 772. I have to run 2 update operations in one query (both concern the same target element) - first operation example: *replace node //tei:div[@xml:id="myID"]with <div ns:time='xxx' xml:id="myID">new content</div>* - second operation example:* **replace value of node //tei:div[@xml:id="myID"]/@*:time with "yyy"** * Both work when run separatly, but don't when are in the same query: the second operation is not executed (and no error message is returned) * **replace node //tei:div[@xml:id="myID"]with <div ns:time='xxx' xml:id="myID">new content</div>,** **replace value of node //tei:div[@xml:id="myID"]/@*:time with "yyy"* Any idea? different syntax for specifying the axis while applying a function

Dear basex people, I am new to this mailing list. So 'hello' first of all. In my understanding of xquery the following expressions should be equivalent /self::match/string() /string(self::match) But running xquery count((<match>foo</match>, <test>test</test>, <match>bar</match>)/self::match/string()) xquery count((<match>foo</match>, <test>test</test>, <match>bar</match>)/string(self::match)) in basex version 7.7.2 turns out to have different results (2 in the first case, 3 in the second). I think it should be 2 in both cases. This bug was found using functx:get-matches() which doesn't return the expected results in basex. Best regards. Jan
