Nullpointer Exception with empty reason in RestXQ response

Hi all, when, in 7.8.x, I override the rest response in an RestXQ as in: declare %rest:path('testhead1') %rest:HEAD function test:myfunct1() { let $out := () (: also with let $out := "" :) <rest:response> <http:response status="404" reason="{$out}" /> </rest:response> }; I get a null pointer exception from a calling http-client code (in the GUI the usual message "Improper use or potential Bug ..."). http:send-request(<http:requestmethod="head" href="http://localhost:8984/testhead1"/>) If I omit the reason attribute alltogether it correctly defaults to the HTTP Phrase "Not Found". Couldn't it be useful to handle the two cases in the same way? Regards, Marco.

GET request serialization options

Hello all, i'm trying to get the result of a REST GET query as json. Setting just the GET parameter 'method=json' doesn't work since i don't have a <json> root node. How do I specify the JSON Module options (http://docs.basex.org/wiki/JSON_Module) as GET parameters? The parameter 'format' seems to be reserved by some other module since it only allows 'yes' or 'no' as value. I want to set format=jsonml since then I can export any xml result as json. Is this possible with a GET request? thanks in advance Martin

? Startup Script for Mac OSX Server (10.9) ?

Hello, sorry - didn’t find a solution in the FAQ or mail archives. Is there an example for a mac osx server (version 10.9) startup script and/or startup environment to make BaseX boot-safe for all users? I’m thinking of something like StartupParameters.plist, /Library/StartupItems, /etc/rc, … tia, Denis

BaseX processing HEBREW XML documents

Hi, I am considering using BaseX for building a large-scale XML search/parsing for *Hebrew* documents - (Hebrew - a right-to-left language). Does anyone have any experience with right-to-left langauges? Hebrew? Should I expect problems with that? With regards, Rot Eron.

7.8.2 application on Mac OS X

Hello, Is anyone else having problems with the BaseX 7.8.2.app.zip file on Mac OS X (downloaded from the BaseX site)? When I unzip the file I get a no entry sign over the application icon and launching the application gets an ‘You can’t open the application "BaseX782.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete.’ I think the name of the application should be BaseX.app rather than BaseX782.app so I think the packaging has gone wrong somewhere. Inside the package is a file called EMPTY and a BaseX.app - but this doesn’t launch for me either. Many thanks, James --------------------------------- James Ball

Rest Query's on File

Just had the problem that Rest Query's on File/Path in a database not Working anymore (don't know right but i think it is since 7.8). A few Versions before there was the possibility to directly query on a path / file in a database e.g. http://basex:8984/rest/mydata/210/?query=<q>..... throws [BXDB0005] Query must yield database nodes. now i need to define path in query and start on Database e.g. http://basex:8984/rest/mydata/?query=<q>{ for $i in db:open('mydata',"210")/record ..... btw. e.g. http://basex:8984/rest/mydata/210/?query=<q>{ for $i in db:open('mydata',"210")/record ..... would also throw [BXDB0005] Query must yield database nodes. Question concerning queries in Client / Server architecture

Dear BaseX-team, I am a student writing my master thesis right now. I would look for a spot in the Client / Server Architecture (Server preferred) where I can catch queries entered by the user via the BaseXClient and modify them in several ways (for the first step modifying the string would be enough for me).
