Exists but doesn't

While trying out 8.0-SNAPSHOT I get something strange. There is an exists query which gives true where the answer should be false. There is no dataset with @name='DiMu__abm', yet exists gives "true". Ways of Connecting to basex

Hi i m a little new to xml-db environment. i need to know what are the possible ways to connect to baseX from client api's. just like in sql the clients could connect to db using : 1)named pipes 2)shared memory 3)tcp and etc... Does basex offer all the functionalists... and by default whats the way a client connects,if the tcp connection is not explicitly specified... regards Furqan

Hi, Hope you can help with the following. I have been asked to create a xquery script that can be used to parse Oracle SQL statements into an XML structure and I would like some pointers on how best to achieve this. Please find below details: 1) The input SQL document is free format text where statements are split by ";" and may be entered over several lines. Example below: "Create table x ( Column1 varchar2(10), Column1 varchar2(10) ); Comment on column x.column1 "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"; Alter table x add ("column3" varchar2(10));" 2) The XML output for the above example would be something like: <sql command="create table" name="x">Create table x (Column1 varchar2(10),Column1 varchar2(10));</sql> <sql command="comment on" name="column x.column1">Comment on column x.column1 "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"; </sql> <sql command="alter table" name="x">Alter table x add ("column3" varchar2(10)); </sql> If you could provide some pointers on how best to achieve this result I would be much appreciated. Hii Carl, Thanks, for the rply. I go through the documentation and instructions of OpenHIM. It says it only works for MongoDB. But I don't want to convert my xml documents to JSON format as supported by MongoDB. Is OpenHIM support BaseX or is there any other tool which capture my incoming requests or queries before it hits the database server. Kindly, answer for the same. I am very thankful to you. db:add or db:replace forget namespaces

Dear all @BaseX, in last snapshot, When adding/replacing a document with db:add/db:replace, If xml content is not a document-node, but an element, namespaces definitions are just forgotten in target document. The root element has a prefix, but no definition. Result is valid if you do not pass $xml but document { $xml } In the documentation, one can see that input can be a string (file path or serialized xml) or a document node. Maybe these functions could abort when an element is given ? Thank you for your fantastic tool ! Best regards,

Regarding reverse proxy option in BaseX

Dear Sir I have a question that is there any option in BaseX to collect queries and incoming request from users and applications before it hits the BaseX database server. Or there is any reverse proxy type of thing between web server and BaseX server to capture all the incoming traffic before it hits the database. Or there is any way to do this. Corruption?

Hello Folks, Is there anything I can do when opening my database results in "Datbase blabla is being updated, or update was not completed."? A program was pumping serious amounts of XML into BaseX with a few processes concurrently and then things seem to have gone haywire - big CPU usage for a long time but that's all. Nothing seems to tell me what's wrong, and now I don't know how to find out, or maybe hopefully repair. I've killed the server, and now I just run bin/basex to look around. But it seems I can't even find out what went wrong. I'd like to know what went on I can prevent this next time. Do you think the problem was too much concurrency, or not enough memory, or something else? Any clues? - Gerald PS. No xquery results

Hi, Hope I'm asking this question to the correct people. I'm an absolute beginner to BaseX and I've run into a problem. I have created a collection from 50 BIRT report definition files (with the post-fix of "rptdesign") - the collection can be visualised and navigated in the GUI without issue. But I cant seem to run any xquery commands against the database. The queries all return a result of zero rows. Do you have any idea why this might be the case? (Even a basic "//parameters" query returns no rows.) FYI - I have created a factbook database and this works as expected so I'm guessing the issue is in the xml implementation within the "rptdesign" documents but I need some help in finding/resolving the problem. Sorry for the very basic question but any help would be much appreciated. I'm running V 7.9. Best regards.
