Autocomplete with RESTXQ

Hi List, Can anyone recommend a lightweight vanilla Javascript autocomplete library that can easily be used together with BaseX RESTXQ? Maybe even a readily cloneable/modifiable example? I don’t have a preference for a server response format. The RESTXQ service may be configured to return XML, JSON, or HTML No CORS restrictions need to be considered, the query host is the same that delivers the HTML pages. Gerrit

Options for ft:search

Hi, I'd like to request a feature concerning the ft:search method: An `lserror` option that works exactly like the global option `LSERROR`. It would be nice if we could set the maximum Levenshtein distance specifically for each fuzzy search without having to adjust the global option. Another question on ft:search: Is there a reason why it doesn't have a `case` option just like ft:contains has one? Best regards, Sebastian

Feature Request: Save untitled, open scripts when exiting GUI

SublimeText has this nifty feature, that it saves all open tabs, even if the have no representation on the filesystem, so one can continue exactly, where one has left off. I find myself often to have several, unnamed, XQueries open, to test this concept, to compose that function, etc. It would be nice, if one could simply shut off and have them reopened next time without naming a file and saving each item in question. -- Minden jót, all the best, Alles Gute, Andreas Mixich

RbaseX Client software, reading from a socket

Hi, I have no idea if it is used by others, but last march my most recent version of my RbaseX library was accepted by CRAN. To my knowledge there are no errors (all tests are passed). The only problem is that performance is bad ;-(. Uploading a file or downloading the result from a query can take several minutes. I can understand why it takes so long. According to the server protocol, the end of a stream is indicated by a terminating 0-byte. And to distinguish a 'regular' 0-byte in a binary stream from the stop-0, 0-bytes (and FF-bytes) are preceded by an extra FF-byte. The only way to deal in R with these FF-byte was to proces each character/byte separately and that takes much time. I am trying to speed up everything by using C++ for all direct read/write operations. But I never have worked with C++ before. And neither do I understand exactly how streams are to be used. According to some posts on internet, when reading from a stream the first 8 bytes are used to pass information on the length of the stream. My question is if this a standard way to pass information on that length? Or is it specific to C++ or Java? Ben

How to serialize HTML as text

Hi, I’ve got an XQuery question more than a BaseX question. I need to output a JSON object with HTML content without a parent element. Weird idea I grant you, but required by the people I work with. Working from a map, in the map value, the content should not appear in a parent element. Instead of : ``` map { ‘key' : ‘value’, ‘content’ : <span>this is some <hi>content</hi> etc</span> } ``` I would like to output something like ``` map { ‘key' : ‘value’, ‘content’ : 'this is some <hi>content</hi> etc' } ``` Is there a way to output some HTML content without the parent element in XQuery ? Hi Rob, Glad to you hear you are fine. If you want to ensure that arguments of user-defined functions are not evaluated before the function is evaluated, you should work with function items: let $check := function( $pred as item(), $true as function() as item()*, $false as function() as item()* ) { if ($pred) then $true() else $false() } return $check(true(), true#0, function() { error((), 'false') }) In the specific case you brought up, you can instead call the built-in function util:if: util:if(true(), 'true', error((), 'false')) The third argument will only be considered if the supplied condition fails. Websites that use BaseX

I have recommended BaseX to some people who are writing an application. The developers, who are more comfortable with SQL, have asked for a list of websites that use BaseX. I imagine they would be happy with other happy customers too, they want to have basic confidence in the tool. So which users should give people confidence that BaseX is the tool for them? They know about my own happy experience with BaseX, they want to know more about other projects. Jonathan
