recursively used variables

Hi, The code[1] below and send as attachment generates a error message: “Static variable depends on itself: $Q{http://www.w3.org/2005/xquery-local-functions}test”. I use these variables to refer to my private functions in my modules so I can easyly refer to them in a inheritance situation. It’s not a big problem for me but I was wondering if the error-triggering is justified or that it should work. Autocomplete with RESTXQ

Hi List, Can anyone recommend a lightweight vanilla Javascript autocomplete library that can easily be used together with BaseX RESTXQ? Maybe even a readily cloneable/modifiable example? I don’t have a preference for a server response format. The RESTXQ service may be configured to return XML, JSON, or HTML No CORS restrictions need to be considered, the query host is the same that delivers the HTML pages. Gerrit

Package for system integration

I have packaged basex in a way that I believe will be easier for integration with package managers. https://klarinet.kos.ovh/fossil/basex-root-install/uv/basex-9.4.3.tar.gz >From the root of that archive, you can build and install like this. make make install # as root The above will install to the prefix /usr/local. You can set a different prefix. Here is an example. make clean make PREFIX=/usr make PREFIX=/usr install # as root A secondary benefit of this package is the removal of the bash dependency. Could a package like this be distributed officially? If that is agreeable, I am happy to try incorporating this into the present build system. Here is a utility for preparing the package. Call for install/setup stories from users

Hi all - Per the recent thread about installing, I was hoping to convince some of you to share your experiences installing and running BaseX. Whether you use Mac OS, Windows, a Linux, or something else: how are you installing and running BaseX? I'm asking as there could be some possible improvements to the wiki that might help new users (or even less-new users!) get up and running. Thanks in advance for your time and trouble! If I can hear about number of approaches, I'm happy to attempt writing up some details for the wiki. Best, Bridger PS Here's mine: Operating systems: I'm typically using BaseX on either a FreeBSD or a Void Linux system (rarely on other Linuxes, and only once or twice on Windows). Install process: my OS' don't have a pre-packaged download for BaseX, so I do something like: 1. cd ~/bin 2. mkdir basex-src basex-data 3. fetch|wget https://files.basex.org/releases/BaseX.zip 4. unzip BaseX.zip 5. rm -rf basex/src basex/data 6. ln -s ~/bin/basex-src ~/bin/basex/src; ln -s ~/bin/basex-data ~/bin/basex/data ... 7. enjoy basex! Upgrade process: something like 1. cd ~/bin 2. fetch|wget https://files.basex.org/releases/BaseX.zip 3. mv basex basex-old 4. unzip BaseX.zip 5. rm -rf basex/src basex/data 6. ln -s ~/bin/basex-src ~/bin/basex/src; ln -s ~/bin/basex-data ~/bin/basex/data ... Usage note: I have a line in my shell RC file (~/.zshrc) that helps my shell/command line know where to find the various basex executables: `export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/bin/basex/bin"`

A question about the arrow operator and predicates

Hi all - I was wondering if anyone would have an insight for me as to why the following expression is wrong: ``` for $s in ("/a/b/c", "/1/2/3") let $t := $s => tokenize("/")[last()] return $t ``` This is because of the predicate filter, but I'm not clear on *why* it's because of that :) Thanks for your help! Missing namespaces when storing an excerpt?

Hi! I’m pulling JSON from an API, converting the string to the XML representation, and storing part of the resulting XML into BaseX. The problem is, I can’t get the xmlns namespace declaration to stick to the XML excerpt once it’s saved to BaseX. It seems to work when I display the unstored excerpt. Here’s a short XQuery that illustrates my problem. Am I missing something? Question about JSON parsing/serializing

Dear BaseX team, there is something I don't understand about the parsing/serializing of JSON. When I serialize a document without options, backslashes are escaped. So for example ... <url>https://help.openconnectors.ext.hana.ondemand.com/home/google-analytics</url> becomes"url":"https:\/\/help.openconnectors.ext.hana.ondemand.com\/home\/google-analytics" Only using serialization options - map{"escape": "no"} - do I get the output as expected, corresponding to the input. Why are slashes by default escaped when serializing JSON? Kind regards,Hans-Jürgen PS: When parsing, the slashes are not escaped, so it is "asymmetrical" - I need to parse without options, yet to serialize with options.

I have never > done this and have never had any problems Well, data/ is in the archive empty and I need to retain the existing data from the incumbent basex when I update BaseX. I find it's simpler to promote data/ to being a sibling of basex/ and use a symbolic link from inside basex/ to find it so I don't have to argue with the defaults. (I am far from sure you can argue with the defaults to the extent of putting the data directory outside of basex/.) So, if you have no need to retain data = no need to do anything with data/.
