binding-types?

Hi, While creating a R-package, based on my R client-implementation, I found that the binding function was malfunctioning. After rewriting that function, the following is accepted: query_txt <- "declare variable $name external; for $i in 1 to 5 return element { $name } { $i }" query_obj_1 <- Query(Sess, query_txt) success <- query_obj_1$queryObject$Bind("name", "number") print(query_obj_1$queryObject$ExecuteQuery()) results in: "<number>1</number>" "<number>2</number>" "<number>3</number>" "<number>4</number>" "<number>5</number>" When I change the line 'success <- query_obj_1$queryObject$Bind("name", "number")' in success <- query_obj_1$queryObject$Bind("name", "number", "xs:integer") the following error is produced: "[XPST0081] No namespace declared for '\002xs:integer'." What types are accepted? Ben

Stack overflow instead of syntax error

We have some code generation and it produced a syntax error. However, running 9.2.4 in production, the server gave a stack overflow tail recursion instead of "Cannot convert xs:integer to xs:date: 1970." (like the GUI did). Here was the error reported: java.lang.RuntimeException: org.basex.core.BaseXException: Stack Overflow: Try tail recursion? Here is the snippet of code that originally cause the 'stack overflow'. The issue is the date is not in quotes. function($endDate as xs:date?) as xs:Boolean { let $intervalBeginDate := xs:date(2019-09-30) let $intervalEndDate := xs:date(2019-09-30) return ($endDate ge $intervalBeginDate) and ($endDate le $intervalEndDate) }; However, when I fix the code generation, everything is fine (see new code below). Just seems "strange" that this would cause the server to throw a 'stack overflow' error. function($endDate as xs:date?) as xs:Boolean { let $intervalBeginDate := xs:date('2019-09-30') let $intervalEndDate := xs:date('2019-09-30') return ($endDate ge $intervalBeginDate) and ($endDate le $intervalEndDate) }; Buddy

Passing through entities unchanged when serializing

Hi, when serializing a string, that contains literal XML with entities, how do I pass through those entities unchanged? Example: let $input := "Lorem ipsum ' dolor sit amet " return serialize($input) results in: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, ' consectetur adipisicing elit. but I want: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, ' consectetur adipisicing elit. -- Minden jót, all the best, Alles Gute, Andreas Mixich

Keeping access to .logs after Docker crash.

Hi, we are experimenting with Docker and get a lot of system crash, However, since we need to recreate the container each time, we can't get access to error messages. I'm not sure if our issue is from the lack of Docker experience, but we'd be open to ideas on tracking issues when using containers. Test if basexserver is running?

Hi, Last year I have written a R-client for basex (https://github.com/BaseXdb/basex/tree/master/basex-api/src/main/r/RbaseXCli…). The present version uses no exception handling and you have to include the source-file in your R-code. A much cleaner solution would be catch all the errors and to pack the sources in a package. At this moment, I am working on such a R-package. The first test that should be executed in the package, is to test if a basexserver is available. How can I test on Linux, Apple and Windows if a baseserver is running? Ben

BaseX Docker logs

Hello, I am currently running a BaseX server with Docker and for the past week, it has exited twice with this message: /usr/local/bin/basexhttp: line 20: 25 Killed java -cp "$CP" $BASEX_JVM org.basex.BaseXHTTP "$@" I want to debug more but I haven't been able to find the basex .logs in my docker container. I am using basexhttp:8.6.4. Any ideas where it could be? Thank you very much, Marie

xs:string("<")

Hi, I am wondering why xs:string("&") is not possible, but xs:string("<") is (although XML does not allow both ). Is there any reason? Thanks. Best, Giuseppe
