Listing packages in machine-readable form w/ versioning info?

Howdy -- As best I can tell, there are currently two ways to list installed packages: - The REPO LIST command, which returns complete output, but in a format clearly intended for human consumption. - The repo:list() function, which is more programatically accessible but returns only namespaces (no version numbers)... simply repeating a single namespace twice if two versions of that package are installed. A mechanism to access the installed package list which includes versioning and directory info (the latter to allow uninstallation of a specific version using repo:delete) would be useful.

Dear BaseX Community, is it possible to restrict user access on a per-document (or even better, per-element) basis? Imagine that multiple users are sharing the same database and the system needs to prevent XPath queries on the documents/elements which the current user doesn't have access to. If not, is there any other way this functionality could be achieved using BaseX? Thank you in advance! Regards, Victor

OK, I added a minimal http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Parsers#HTML_Parsers By the way http://home.ccil.org/~cowan/XML/tagsoup/ says --files Output into individual files, with html extensions changed to xhtml. Otherwise, all output is sent to the standard output. --html Output is in clean HTML: the XML declaration is suppressed, as are end-tags for the known empty elements. --omit-xml-declaration The XML declaration is suppressed. etc. Please mention how we can manipulate these via "declare option...". Also mention how to manipulate the 'SAX features and properties' mentioned. Allow us to attempt a round trip, declare option db:parser "html"; declare option output:method "html"; declare option output:version "4.01"; declare option output:doctype-public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"; declare option output:doctype-system "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"; doc("http://jidanni.org/index.html") Alas, I need to somehow use --html, and also who is putting those shape="rect" into my <a> links?? Ah, maybe --html will fix that too, http://www.xmlplease.com/shaperect . I can accept the fact that comments are stripped, but there should be a way to adjust things so one can get a closer HTML round trip.

Serialization to image files

Hi, I have a question, which sound a little bit strange. Is there away to serialize to image files (png, pdf etc.)? I am graceful fro every hint. I used to use Mac until two months ago. There I serialized to html documents and then used a secondary software to convert these html files to pngs. Unfortunately I can't find anything like that on Linux, with which I am working now. BaseX 7.1.2 beta: relative paths within packages

I have a built an xar package with a xquery source that imports another module. It has three files as follows: ---expath-pkg.xml------- <package xmlns="http://expath.org/ns/pkg" name="apb.pacman" abbrev="lib" version="0.1" spec="1.0"> <title>package tools</title> <xquery> <namespace>apb.pacman</namespace> <file>pacman.xq</file> </xquery> </package> ----------lib/pacman.xq------- xquery version "1.0" encoding "UTF-8"; module namespace q="apb.pacman"; import module namespace p="parser-basex" at "parser-basex.xq"; declare function q:info() { "hello from pacman" }; declare function q:parse($xq as xs:string) { p:parse-XQuery($xq) }; ----------lib/parser-basex.xq------- xquery version "1.0" ... etc -------------------------------- In the GUI I enter: import module namespace q="apb.pacman"; q:info() I get the error: Error: [XQST0059] Module not found: '/home/andy/parser-basex.xq I was expecting p="parser-basex" at "parser-basex.xq" to be resolved relative to pacman.xq in the repo. Is this a bug, or am I misreading the spec? /Andy

Wrong implementation of the position predicate.

Dear Basex-team members, I'm a PHD-researcher at the University of Antwerp. For one of the courses I assist we are planning to use BaseX in order to learn students the concepts of Xpath and XQuery. We find that the tool is a good way to illustrate things but I found an error. In attachment I've put the XML file I was testing. It's about students, and it's a very small example file. After importing this file, I want to execute the following XPath expression: /child::students/child::student/child::*/ancestor::* This works well as it gives me all the ancestors namely both 'Student' elements and the 'Students' element. But, when I add the following predicate (see bold part in the expression below) it goes wrong: /child::students/child::student/child::*/ancestor::*[position()=1] What should happen according the XPath rules is: give back the first ancestor. Now, the result of 'ancestor::* is (in reverse document order) the right Student element , the left Student element, Students element The second of this is the left student element. But when you execute this, the result that I get are the TWO student elements, with is wrong. If we change the position to 2, I get the StudentS element, which is also wrong. Is it possible to solve this problem? Further I also have some thought about making the GUI better. It should be good to make a distinction between element nodes, attribute nodes and text nodes in the visual presentation of the XML tree. That makes things much clear for users. importing library with alternative namespace

Hi I am really happy to see an option to import xquery library - it shall let me organize my code much better. When testing sample from wiki: http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Packaging I tried to modify proposed instruction: import module namespace functx="http://www.functx.com"; into this, using alternative namespace: import module namespace functxyz="http://www.functx.com"; The import worked well, but when calling functxyz:capitalize-first("test") I got result: Error: [FONS0004] No namespace declared for prefix 'functx'. Questions: Is this ok, that I am forced to use assigned namespace, or is this just some bug in the library I have teested? Or bug in BaseX? With best regards Jan *Ing. Announcing Nxdb - A .NET Binding for BaseX Focused On Embedded XML Databases

Hi all, I'd like to announce Nxdb, a pure .NET binding for BaseX that is focused primarily on using BaseX as an embedded XML database. It can run under Mono and does not require any Java or JVM support. It is the culmination of several years of work with BaseX on the .NET platform in multiple commercial projects. It introduces an entirely new API focused on direct database node manipulation as well as several other features intended to make the embedded database use case easier. I'm still working out the best way to document, distribute, etc. so suggestions in that area would be helpful as well. I'm also very interested in ideas on what should be added or improved next.
