Dear Christian, it's very great that you've incorporated the SAXSerializer. But you've overdone it a bit. The setItem() method and the parse() methods are required. I've written a JUnit-Test to demonstrate the application of the SAXSerializer with JAXB. In line 49 there should be the method setItem, which you have removed. The JAXB unmarshaller is going to invoke parse(String) which now throws an exception with an 'unimplemented' note. BaseX as web application in servlet container

Hello, Is anyone there who can explain to me why in BaseX76.war (or previous versions) there are two WEB-INF directories each with a web.xml file inside? ~/BaseX76/WEB-INF/classes/WEB-INF/ Which web.xml file needs to be edited to configure BaseX as web application in Tomcat properly? Thanks. PS: I deployed BaseX75.war and 76 in Tomcat and they work after editing web.xml but I had to edit index.html and restxq.xqm as well to see style.css and basex.svg. Maybe it depends on my OS (Ubuntu) or my browser (Firefox), I don't know. Thank you.

Xquery over all collections

Hello List I am wanting to query all collections in BaseX 7.5 without hard coding the names of each collection in my xquery. I can list the collections with db:list() but am struggling to get something like let $r := (collection('A'), collection('B'), collection('C'))/xml/indicator[code='myCode'] I can use db:list() to get all documents in all collections in this way: let $q := for $a in (db:list()) let $e :=string-join( $a, ',') return $e let $z := for $x in $q return db:open($x) for $r in $z return $r Can anyone please suggest a way of using db:list and other functions in xquery to perform a query on all collections. I have implemented a special serializer which implements org.xml.sax .XMLReader. This is used to directly dispatch the query result to JAXB and to created objects. I can now extend this technique to generate a new DOM by implementing a SAX ContentHandler which generates a DOM. Unfortunately the serializer API is not documented nor stable (it changed from 7.3 to 7.5). I propose to add a standard SAX serializer to BaseX. This would be a very useful extension. Problem with DOM LS serialization

Dear All, unfortunately I cannot serialize items using DOM/LS. I get an NullPointerException because Node.getParentNode() returns null. Xquery with server commands

Consider the following xquery on "db2": for $doc in db:open('db2') return $doc with the following code //start session static ClientSession session; session = new ClientSession("localhost", 1984, "admin", "admin"); session.execute(new Check(db1)); //query ClientQuery query = session.query(xquery); result = query.execute(); query.close(); This code will execute, but with an empty result. This is because within the session only db1 is opened and I am querying db2. When explicit opening (session.execute(new Open(db2)); ) it returns the expected value of course. Do you agree that this can be confusing? I would expect that the xquery in combination with the above code returns 1) an error that quering db2 while it's not opened in the session or 2) that "db:open('db2')" in the xquery performs implicitly a session.execute(new Open(db2), so that it automatically switches to db2.

Updating DB using Java Code

Dear BaseX Team, I am using BaseX to store XML. This XML DB will get updated regularly through net. After updating, I will need to create Full-Text, Text and Attribute Indexes. Java User Function and Context Awareness

It seems that there is no way for a Java user function installed in the Repository to get access to the current context node. Yes the context is available because of extending abstract QueryModule, but it seems the value of the current context node has been wiped out by the call from UserFunc.value() [at UserFunc:line 170] before it gets to the actual user function [during line 175]. Is there some way for a user function to recover that value, or is this just a limitation of the user function mechanism? Thanks.

I can't understand how to interpret the error message. The same query in BaseXGUI works perfectly. I hope someone can help me. Thanks!

URI resolver when calling XSLT

Hi, I've run into a similar problem to the one described (I think) below: I can invoke XSLT in BaseX (fantastic) but I get compiler errors if the stylesheet relies on xsl:import or xsl:include (not so good). As I understand it, the JAXP interface (supported by Saxon and Xalan) allows you to provide your own URIResolver class, which is (I imagine) the way to fix this. But I'm no Java programmer. It would be very (very) nice to be able to do this right. Compiling w/ HTTP

Hi all, I've just compiled from git the basex, basex-api, and basex-example repos, using maven. When I try to start, in basex-api, etc/basexhttp, I get: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/jetty/server/Handler Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.eclipse.jetty.server.Handler at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247) Could not find the main class: org.basex.BaseXHTTP. Program will exit. Which to me suggests I'm missing Jetty stuff, however I'm unsure why that wasn't brought to my attention during the compile? I'm all kinds of confused. Thanks for any help, Jay

XSD Validation

Hi all, I have two questions regarding XSD validation, 1. resolving paths while using imported XSDs 2. error reporting 1. resolving paths while using imported XSDs consider this example let $doc := <a /> let $schema := doc("../xsd/XDW.xsd") return validate:xsd($doc,$schema) this returns an error "[BXVA0001] Validation failed: src-resolve: Cannot resolve the name 'cda:NullFlavor' to a(n) 'type definition' component.". This is because the XDW.xsd schema imports two more XSD's with the following import statements that uses relative paths to refer to schemas that reside in the same folder as the root XDW.xsd. <xs:import namespace="http://docs.oasis-open.org/ns/bpel4people/ws-humantask/types/200803" schemaLocation="ws-humantask-types.xsd"/> <xs:import namespace="urn:hl7-org:v3" schemaLocation="HW_POCD_MT000040.xsd"/> The problem occurs with both file and http based uris. The only way I have to make validations through imported schemas to work is by using absolute paths in the import statements which is very annoying/limiting especially when handling multiple deployments. I just wanted to know whether this is the expected behaviour in which case it'll require us to take countermeasures at application deployment level. 2. Error reporting Basex reports the first error while validating with xsd schema, while java uses to report the collection of errors that do not depend on each other. This latter beaviour allos a user to correct multiple bugs simultaneously befor redoing the validation. I understand that the choice to return an exception on validation failure complicates this but couldn't it be possible to return a more complex description of the validation result containing multiple error marks? For information, we use Basex 7.5 on Ubuntu 12.04. Thanks in advance, Seenivasan
