Hi, I have a database that contains several thousand records with elements that I will never need so I want to remove them. The following code snippet returns the expected element: import module namespace functx = 'http://www.functx.com'; let $p := collection("Patterns/nl-verbs.csv")/csv/record[1] let $remove := ("onbekend1", "onbekend2", "onbekend3", "onbekend4") return functx:remove-elements($p, $remove) I tried to use update:apply to update the database but when I execute the following function, I get this message: [XPDY0002] element(functx:remove-elements): Context is undeclared import module namespace functx = 'http://www.functx.com'; declare %updating function local:clean_verbs( $old as node(), $rem as xs:string* ) as empty-sequence() { update:apply(functx:remove-elements, [$old, $rem]) }; let $p := collection("Patterns/nl-verbs.csv")/csv/record[1] let $remove := ("onbekend1", "onbekend2", "onbekend3", "onbekend4") return local:clean_verbs($p, $remove) I have two questions: 1: If I want to use the update module, how should I provide the context to the query? 2: How can I update all records without making use of update:apply or update:for-each (what is the befit of the update-module)? how to store a result in a database?

empty tags when grouping with tumbling window?

I found (another) wrinkle to parsing this data because blank lines seem to cause a problem with the grouping. How can I increment the x variable only when numerical is false? How can I start a new "record" and then nest tags in that record? but I'm getting output like: <xml> <record> if (matches($line, "[0-9]")) then <data>people</data> else <name>people</name> </record> <record> if (matches($line, "[0-9]")) then <data>joe</data> else <name>joe</name> </record> .. wheras I just want output like: <record> <name>joe</name> <data>123</data> </record> the query: xquery version "3.0"; <xml> { for $line in db:open("foo.txt")//text() return <record> if (matches($line, "[0-9]")) then <data>{$line}</data> else <name>{$line}</name> </record> } </xml> I think it's a matter of using the () and {} correctly. Restore original lay-out

Hi, I don't know how ;( but somehow I managed to change the layout for the GUI. Now I have the Result-panel in top of the Info-panel. How can I restore the original lay-out (Result to bottom-left and Info to bottom-right)? Cheers, Ben

How to export or query JSON as an array?

How to programatically add JSON?

I know I've gone around on this before, but looking to import data directly from Java. I've set the parser to "json", am only adding JSONObject string data, and not JSONArray, but am getting "resource not found": https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60250724/ What does it mean "resource not found"? The data is certainly valid, because the following will import JSON the fine, in fact it even imports the array: let $database := "blgdfmbljm" for $name in file:list('.', false(), '*.json') let $file := file:read-text($name) let $json := json:parse($file) return db:add($database, $json, $name) dummy data: [{"0":"","1":"z10","2":"y9","3":"x7","4":"atrib6","name":"alice"},{"0":"home5","1":"cell4","name":"sue"},{"0":"phone3","1":"phone2","2":"phone1","name":"joe"},{"name":"people"}] So, I guess a two-fold question: how to import a JSONArray with Java, and how to even know what resource isn't found. Doesn't seem likely to be the JSONObject as I've inspected it just prior to invoking Add. thanks, Thufir

I'm looking at the Java examples, but how would I add a POJO, or collection of POJO's, to BaseX? Jaxb looks to certainly be an option to serialize to XML, but what would be some alternate approaches? thanks, Thufir

how to export to CSV?

What I'm trying to export to, CSV: joe,phone1,phone2,phone3, sue,cell4 ,home5,, alice,atrib6,x7,y9,z10 What needs to be done so that it can be exported to CSV: <ul> <li>joe</li> <ul>phone1</ul> <ul>phone2</ul> <ul>phone3</ul> <li>sue</li> <ul>cell4</ul> <ul>home5</ul> <li>alice</li> <ul>atrib6</ul> <ul>x7</ul> <ul>y9</ul> <ul>z10</ul> </ul> But not sure how to get from the above list, which I can rewrite as XML, to something which BaseX can then export as the desired CSV. I know that it has to be wrapped in <csv> and that <record> is used, as well. Something like: <csv> <record> <Name>Huber</Name> <First_Name>Sepp</First_Name> <Address>Hauptstraße 13</Address> <City>93547 Hintertupfing</City> </record> </csv> is what I see in the documentation, but not sure how to get there. thanks, Thufir
