Hi all, I have loaded the RNG schema using function db:store and also loaded the XML in the DB which has to be validated, but i am getting the error, below is my code: let $binary := db:retrieve('onix','/relaxng/publishers-51cr.rnc') let $schema := bin:decode-string($binary) return let $input := db:open('onix') return validate:rng($input, $schema) when i run this code i get the error invalid XML charcter(20) so what i am doing wrong here. please find the attached RNG schema file and XML

Strange behavior while adding existing elements into new element.

Hi, just before you asking me. No we wasn't to isolate the Problem for now. Working on a complex transaction with database involved, we get the following phenomenon. declare function m:paths($el as element()) as xs:string* { distinct-values( for $e in $item/descendant::* return string-join($e/ancestor-or-self::*/local-name(.), "/") ) }; This function should produce a list of paths to all child of $el. And it works! But sometimes we get some strange results. We created new element constructed from others, may existing, elements. let $sequence-of-elements := collect-some-elements($from-somewhere) let $new-element := element el { $sequence-of-elements } return paths($new-element) Most of the time we get as expected results like: el/c1 el/c1/c12 el/c2 el/c2/c21 el/c2/c22 el/.. But sometimes it looks like that parents of the copied elements are not set correctly: oldParentOfc1/c1 oldParentOfc1/c1/c12 otherOld/ParentOfc2/c2 otherOld/ParentOfc2/c2/c21 otherOld/ParentOfc2/c2/c22 ... If we do a copy of the result <el> like parse-xml(serialize($new-element))/* and call paths() again, everything looks now as expected. We call the function what products such results, isolated within a test-script with exact the same inputs. But suddenly the result was correct. Then we copied the inputs of the function within the integration (parse-xml, serialize). But it failed again. Also notable is, that the "bad result" is stable. It produces always the same result on same inputs (no random). So we have no idea to isolate the issue. Any suggestions? How to run XSLT 2.0 in BaseX

Problem with serialize function and use-character-maps option

When I try serialize("This is a test with a slash / Test.", map { 'method' : 'json', 'use-character-maps' : map { '/' : '/'}}) with BaseX 8.6.4 is indicates an error [SEPM0017] Invalid 'use-character-maps' value 'map { "/": "/" }'; must be a string. However, the W3C spec https://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions-31/#func-serialize suggests the syntax is use-character-maps map(xs:string, xs:string)? with "For the use-character-maps option, the value is a map, whose keys are the characters to be mapped (as xs:string instances), and whose corresponding values are the strings to be substituted for these characters.". So it seems BaseX is not implementing the finalized spec here.

xquery:eval and bindings argument

I apologize in advance, because I know the answer will be simple (but I couldn't find an example and have tried all sorts of options). I am trying to run xquery:eval passing in a string to evaluate and a map of bindings. Everything I try I get an 'Undefined variable' error. Here is a simple example I tried in the BaseX Gui. let $a := 3let $string := "$a + 1"returnxquery:eval($string, map{"a" : $a} This is just one attempt, but there were many others. Again, I know this is going to be a simple mistake I'm making, so apologies to the community in advance. Thanks, Buddy

Clarification on hof:until

Dear Basex team, today I was trying out hof:until with the code [1]. According to the documentation [2] it should behave like a sort of "do code until condition" and I'd expect it to return 1 but I get 0 instead thus it rather seems like a "until condition do code". Are my expectations wrong? Thanks, Marco. standalone vs GUI character parsing

Hi all - I'm able to create a database with the GUI from an XML document that contains an invalid character (U+0000) -- I guess BaseX does some character scrubbing, which is awesome :). When I try creating a database with the same input XML document from the commandline (using the basex executable), I get an error message. Here are my commands in standalone mode: BaseX 8.5.3 [Standalone] Try 'help' to get more information. > create db test-bad-char /usr/home/bridger/src/another-test.xml "/usr/home/bridger/src/another-test.xml" (Line 4): An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0xb) was found in the element content of the document. > xquery db:create("test-bad-char", "/usr/home/bridger/src/another-test.xml", "/usr/home/bridger/src/", map { "chop": false() }) Stopped at ., 1/10: [FODC0002] "/usr/home/bridger/src/another-test.xml" (Line 4): An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0xb) was found in the element content of the document. > This isn't a surprise (I'm more surprised (pleasantly) by the GUI behavior); is there a way to apply the same "scrubbing" from the GUI in standalone mode?
