Cast exception on recursion+map

Hello all, I've stumbled upon an issue with the latest version and in particular the code I provide was working with 8.0 snapshot up to build 496C381 and with all previous official versions of course. Build 151df63 is the first build I'm aware of the difference. Shortly. In an input document I have a list of env nodes (sort of <env name="n">v</env>). They need to be parsed and "xquery:eval(uated)" in sequence because following env nodes may refer to preceding ones (i.e. <env name="n1">v1</env>, <env name="n2">{$n1}</env>). I've managed to do the job with the following code but now (as described in the preamble) I get the following cast exception in the xquery:eval: Stopped at [...]/file, 9/31: ---> (this points to the line with the xquery:eval call) [XPTY0117] Cannot cast xs:untypedAtomic to xs:QName. I've absolutely no idea why it started giving this error and even looking at the queryplan is too difficult in such a scenario for me. Anyone can help me out? Annoying behaviour of file:resolve-path

Hi, For a while I wasn't aware, then I noticed it and then I got annoyed by it. It's not a big issue but it does require extra code to work around this, in my opinion, annoying behaviour. When using file:resolve-path it depends if the file exists or not. The output is different. Say I have an existing directory F:\tmp then file:resolve-path('F:/tmp') => F:\tmp\ However, when I have a path that points to a non-existing directory (or file, we cannot know!) file:resolve-path('F:/tmp/not-exists') => F:/tmp/not-exists Notice the absence of a slash. I guess the assumption that is made is that in the future this will refer to a file and not a directory. The same behaviour occurs with file:path-to-uri(), and file:base-dir() also returns a path with a trailing slash. I think that this is annoying, or let's say at least, inconsistent behaviour and had me add code that defensively strips of trailing slash. I cannot rely on file:resolve-path results because if a directory doesn't exist it has no slash at the end, and if it does it has and sometimes I don't want to check for existence at that point. When combining paths I tend to use string-join($parts,'/') and having slash at the end of URL's and filesystem paths doesn't feel right so I always strip them off. Hope I didn't sound too grumpy ;-) Opinions? Guess, changing it would trip up a lot of existing path handling code. --Marc

Latest build is empty ...

Hi all, I have a chunk of code (focused on xquery:eval) that somehow broke between the builds 151df63 (not working) and 496C381 (working) of the latest snapshot. 7.9 worked. Since I don't remember when the two build were downloaded I'm not able to classify them according to time thus before signaling the different behaviour I wanted to test the code with the current latest snapshot. Unfortunately the download is not complete since the ZIP file doesn't contain BaseX.jar and neither of the files in the bin folder. Any clue on what happened? Thank you, Marco.

JSON results

Hello, I'm trying to construct a query that will return the title and ID from a set of records, but instead of XML results I'd prefer JSON. I'd like the results to be in the following format: [ ['id': 'value1', 'title': 'Title1'], ['id': 'value2', 'title': 'Title2'], ['id': 'value3', 'title': 'Title3'] ] I understand I'd need to use the JSON module, but I'm having trouble getting the results into the right format. This is what I have so far: XQUERY for $poem in collection("lk") let $id := fn:string($poem/poem/@uuid) let $title := $poem/poem/title/text() order by $title return (<id>{$id}</id>, <title>{$title}</title>) This returns the XML, but does anyone know how to convert into the desired JSON format? Cursor keys

Hello, I'm using the command line interface of BaseX 7.3. I notice the cursor keys don't behave in the normal way - instead of moving the cursor around they print strange characters. Is there something wrong with my terminal configuration or is this a shortcoming of the software?

Reg : Group by with the top Records

XML Oxygen search: 404 Not found when the file exists, or worse 500 error.

Hi, We've been having this persistent issue with our webDAV connection to XML Oxygen. How to reproduce: 1. Create a DB with 200/300 documents. 2. Create a webDAV connection to the DB within an XML Oxygen project. 3. Right click the DB from the project > Find/Replace in files, and type a keyword to search for for all files *.xml 4. Run the search 3 to 5 times. Until you notice the error. The error doesn't always occur, but I'd be surprised if you didn't see it after 3 to 5 try. Example 500 error: System ID: http://admin@localhost :8984/webdav/en-us/topics/widget-bookmark.xml Severity: error Description: 500 Internal Server Error for: http://localhost:8984/webdav/en-us/topics/widget-bookmark.xml In the case of a 500 error, you need to restart the server to be able to open or search files from the DB again. Hi Emmanuelle, please don't forget to include the mailing list in your mails, so others can also benefit from the questions (and other people might answer you faster or better than I can). The CSV serialization works just on the element name as far as I can remember. serializing an xquery flwor in csv

Hi all, I'm trying to do some xquery with the GUI in a standalone install. As I'm beginning with xquery, I rely a lot on the examples given in the doc. But I don't manage to be successful with http://docs.basex.org/wiki/CSV_Module for what I need. I'd like to get a result formatted in csv (separator : ';' or whatever) so tha I can directly import in a spreadsheet the results exported file.
