The problem seems to lie in the doc() function. In fact if you just left what you found intact, you wouldn't wreck people's formatting too. You don't wreck things when processing let $k := <coordinates> 120.867029,24.167269,10  120.866931,24.167630,10  120.866832,24.167901,10  </coordinates> then why not do the same with doc()?

Pathname of the current XQuery?

I have the awful feeling that I'm missing something really obvious, but I want to be able to get the pathname of the current query, and I can't figure out how. The use case is that the query validates documents in the collection differently, based on the document element, and I want to refer to the different schema files (which sit, on the file system, right next to the file with the query in it) in a machine-independent way. So instead of let $decisionSchema := '/home/graydon/workspace/Content Standards/schemas/decisions_schema.xsd' I'd like to be able to say something like let $decisionSchema := concat(string-join(tokenize(get-query-path(),'/')[position() ne last()],'/'),'/decisions_schema.xsd') only I can't figure out what get-query-path() is. File module path encodings

Hi, The following two expressions create a file called "d d.txt" (Windows, BaseX 7.6) file:write("c:\temp\d d.txt","what") file:write("c:\temp\d%20d.txt","what") I wonder if it would not be better if the second would create a file "d%20d.txt"? My use case is creating a file name that encodes a path e.g. "lib%5Cfile.txt". The currently gives an error, as it is looking for a folder lib. I read http://expath.org/spec/file#d3e112 as meaning url encoded file names must start file:/// and if no file:/// the name should be used as is. /Andy

Dear Team, Following is my query - for $x in db:fulltext('Doc', 'Molecular Biology')/ancestor::*:Doc return $x/ArticleNo This query will return all the ArticleNo having the words "Molecular Biology" The output of this query is like a PHRASE... where the phrase is "Molecular Biology" Now I want to list all the ArticleNo which might have word "Molecular" OR/AND "Biology" How can I get this using the above query... ?? -- Have a nice day JBest

Java Exception:insertion at beginning of populated table

Via a python client, I am looping through a set of 600 xml files and issuing REPLACE commands to store them in my BaseX db. All was well until I reached file #364, at which point the program crashed with Java.lang.RuntimeException: "insertion at beginning of populated table." I am using BaseX 7.7 beta. I guess I shouldn't be using beta?

Letting users WRITE comments, but not READ them.

Hi, I am trying to secure access to some of our content. Case: 1. User reads our content and completes the feedback form. 2. A file is saved in our "Feedback" database for each form that is submitted. Security: - Let anonymous users WRITE to the DB using the web form - Do not allow unauthenticated users to READ comments. Solution so far to avoid making user/password known: 1. Save feedback in an unsecured DB. 2. Redirect to function that moves the feedback file to a secured DB. Issue: - Security seems to limit access to files when they are addressed as db:open(DB, path). - All functions that grab data, crunch the data and display it in an HTML table seem to remain available to everyone. Questions: - Instead of securing the DB, we were thinking of securing the functions: Open access to 'submit-comment' for all users, require authentication for all other functions. quick dereferencing of elements found earlier

I'm experimenting with the construction of secondary documents which contain information about my primary documents. I won't go into details, but it would not be too far off to think of them as user-created indices -- my goal is to pre-calculate some information I expect to want often in queries, to see if using such secondary documents produces faster responses than running the original queries on the original documents. It would be handy to be able to point from my secondary documents to specific nodes (in my case, always elements, at least at the moment) of the primary documents. The same desire arises when I try to build text search interfaces that return hits with a small amount of context; I want to be able to provide links that point to an appropriate ancestor element, so the user can see more context if desired. One way to handle this desire would be to take the base URI of the node, and the path from the root to the element and point to elements using XPointer element() expressions of the form collection/docname.xml#element(1/2/4/1/1) (A function for fast resolution of XPointer element() expressions would be a nice thing to have, by the way.) In some XQuery implementations, I believe there are functions which return some sort of internal identifier for element nodes, and other functions which take that identifier as an argument and quickly return that node. (Or perhaps I am just remembering a facility from the first SGML database I used intensively.) Such functions, if they exist, seem likely to be faster than resolution of element() expressions. My code is as follows, /*Example xml I am using <interface> <name>intf0</name> </interface> <interface> <name>intf1</name> </interface> <interface> <name>intf2</name> </interface> <interface> <name>intf3</name> </interface> */ XQuery query = new XQuery("/interfaces/interface/name/text()"); String str = query.execute(ctx); // Result string is - intf0intf1intf2intf3 I want the result such as intf0 intf1 intf2 intf3 I could not get the result list and I could not differentiate whether the result has multiple values or a single value.
