Eclipse w/XQDT + basexgui with eclipse + xqdt, its easy for us to deploy the application and maintain version controlling system. XQDT is very good but it is in its beta stage. Sometimes syntax highlighting wont work. Also the auto-complete and parameter suggestion features are not up to the mark. we use basexgui at those time and also to validate the snippets of big code block. Hi Andreas, hi everyone, > Since XQDT works under Eclipse 3.7 and offers parentheses matching [...] that's an important point of course. I would generally interested what tools you (all) prefer to develop applications with BaseX, XQuery and XML. As you may know, the embedded BaseX editor can be used to process XQuery, XML and any other types of text documents. It know various powerful hotkeys [1] that are not documented in the GUI. It provides direct feedback on parsing errors in the edited and imported modules. The latest snapshot [2] also parses XML documents and command scripts and, since this weekend, offers a much more powerful facility for incrementally searching and replacing strings (incl. support for regular expressions). Enough of the self-adulation… We're well aware that it would be a waste of time if we seriously tried to cope with existing text editors and IDEs, such as.. • Eclipse w/XQDT • oXygen • vim, Emacs, etc. ..so we’d like to know what are your favorite editors for writing XQuery expressions and applications, and what convinces, or deters you, mostly from using the built-in editor or the alternatives? Two basic questions

I am contemplating using BaseX from a web application using the Java API. I plan to use it, among other things, to store some information on the users of the site. Someone coming in to the application would be asked to identify themselves, probably with an email address. Based on the address, I would find a record stored in BaseX and possibly edit the record. So my question is: would it be better to have a collection of small XML documents, one to each user; or does BaseX provide the concurrent access control to allow me to have one document with any number of user records? Second question: I seen in the Java API examples how to create a new database, but I don't see an easy way to check if a database exists. Does that mean, then, that I should create the databases beforehand and then assume they exist inside my application? My apologies in advance, since I am sure these question have been asked before. Hi, I find that a regualr expression below let $regex := 'P{Ll}' let $input := .//subsection[matches(@title,$regex)] causes the error [FORX0004] Regular expression: 'Lexical error at line 1, column 3. Encountered: "L" (76), after : "{"'. I use P{Ll} in xslt/xpath in saxon without issue and I'm running basex with saxon so I assume this is something basex is parsing out as an error condition I looked in the xquery spec for the error and found which seems to be something else An error is raised [err:FORX0004<http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions-30/#ERRFORX0004>] if the value of $replacement contains a "$" character that is not immediately followed by a digit 0-9 and not immediately preceded by a "\". Regarding ft:tokens() ...

Dear Christian, I want to use the ft:tokens() to show the word occurrences, but I am getting chopped output... There are 82419 results, but only 63598 are being displayed....in BaseX... This is going to help me to check the spelling... :) -- Have a nice day JBest
