org.basex.server.ClientSession versus Java client BaseXClient.java

Hello A question. The class code org.basex.server.ClientSession coincides roughly with the class code BaseXClient.java provided as an example of Java client in https://github.com/BaseXdb/basex-api/tree/master/src/main/java? I think it must be so, but I want to assure. If the answer is yes, the classorg.basex.server.ClientSession is as efficient as using the BaseXClient.java, right? Regards, Isidre Guixà

Hi all, BaseX 7.1.1 is now available in the official Debian unstable repositories. Snapshot versions are available from time to time taking http://files.basex.org/debian/ as repository. The code is basically equivalent, but the files in the API package don't have any BaseX class dependencies. The performance should be pretty much the same, too. Hope this helps, Christian

eclipse integration

Hi, I am getting this error while trying to run xquery inside Eclipse. I followed all the steps mentioned in BaseX-Eclipse integration documentation. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:217) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) Could not find the main class: . Program will exit. I could understand that this is a classpath error but i am unable to rectify it on my own. could any one help me to overcome this issue. Thanks, Nivas

adding documents to a collection

Hi, I will implement a web interface to edit and update specific nodes in an existing database. This will probably be controlled mainly by the node-id. Therefore it is no good idea to change the collection during the editing process because node-ids would change. However, it seems that when adding a document to a collection it will be integrated *after* all existing documents. Is it guaranteed that when adding a new document to a collection, no existing node-ids are changed? I would have to re-index the collection when adding new documents. Reusing connections to BaseX

Hi, I have a question about the BaseX server. We're using it from a J2EE application (which is the client), and so we've implemented a connection pool in the style done by many other database drivers. We are getting Broken Pipe errors, indicating that a connection has been disconnected. My question: when does BaseX disconnect, and is there a way for a client to learn this? For instance, if there's a syntax error in a XQUERY, should BaseX disconnect? If a BaseXException is thrown by the Java driver? Currently, we mark the connection as dead when an IOException or EOF occurs during the handling of one request, but we keep it alive when a BaseXException occurs, such as when we submit an ill-formed XQUERY. We could avoid pooling, connecting and disconnecting for every query, but obviously that would be expensive. Or we could "ping" the server before issueing the actual query, but that's awkward, too. How do others handle this problem? - Godmar
