Facing problem while deploying BaseX under JBoss

Hello, I am facing problem while deploying BaseX under JBoss due to JBoss’s (Virtual File System) for the I/O operations. So “ClassLoader.getResource” under JBoss context returns JBoss resource and then getContent() returns “JBoss Stream” but not the java.io.InputStream, this can be fix by using getResourceAsStream which returns InputStream Changes required in org.basex.core.Lang.java at Line No: 66 ----------------------------------------------------------- final BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( (InputStream) url.getContent(), Token.UTF8)); ----------------------------------------------------------- Above line needs to be replaced with below: --------------------------------------------------------------- InputStream stream = Lang.class.getResourceAsStream(path); final BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( stream, Token.UTF8)); --------------------------------------------------------------- Regards, Ashish Jain

BaseX wiki upgraded for me to first class resource (just beside Wikipedia)

Hi I noticed, many answers in this forum got shortened a lot in last weeks into simple short url pointing into wiki. For couple of years I use simple trick to search quickly terms in Wikipedia - it works for me on Firefox as well as nowadays on Google Chrome (other browsers will probably work that way too). - using keyword en, pressing Tab, entering searched term on English Wikipedia and pressing enter I get the page I need - the same with cs for Czech Wikipedia - *Today I added bx for BaseX Wiki as I found myself searching this site so often* Chrome allows to control this by wrench tool - first tab (Basic) - section Search - button Manage en - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=%s bx - http://docs.basex.org/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=%s&go=Go Now I have (almost) all the knowledge of BaseX team at my fingertips - thanks for it DBIS team. And thanks to those, who are willing to share their knowledge on this wiki. Jan

Adding new doc into existing collection by means of XQuery

Hi Is there any method, how to add new doc into existing collection? I studied XQUF and it seems, like it can only update existing nodes. Options I was thinking about are - fn:put() - it is supposed for publishing into external documents, but if I could use uri of collection in BaseX and BaseX would accept it... - using database functions<http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Database_Functions>, but also here I do not see anything, what would add a doc The motivation is simple - if I could add docs by XQuery, I can save some roundtrips of data to insert Workaround is also not so difficult - simply using some sort of container doc in target collection and then modifying its nodes (putting here content of complete logical doc) instead of adding complete doc. Any comments are welcome. Jan

Transforming a node without changing the database

Hi, I am using BaseX 6.5. I am trying to transform a given node using an XQuery. Possibly a bug in format-number function

Hi all, I think there is a bug in format-number function. Example: let $numbers := (1234.567, 789, 1234567.765) for $i in $numbers return format-number($i, "#,###.##") BaseX output: 1,234.57 789 1234,567.76 Should output: 1,234.57 789 1,234,567.76 Regards, Artur

Hi all, I am looking for a sponsor for the package "basex". BaseX is a native XML database and XPath/XQuery processor written entirely in Java. Besides it supports the latest W3C Full Text and Update Recommendations. BaseX can be operated from command line, in client/server mode, or using a GUI. Infrastructure improvements

Given the well deserved growth of BaseX, I was wondering if there are plans to improve bug/feature tracking capability, as well as the discussion system. For the first, I have used the popular JIRA system ( http://www.atlassian.com/). While I think it could use improvements, it's pretty powerful and I think it would be better than what exists now. They say that it's free to use for open source projects. I have found the GNU mailing list system to be cumbersome to use, since it is all email based, and the archives are not automatically searchable, nor grouped in any way by subject. There are a number of free discussion board systems, including at least one based on Java, and I think that would be a big improvement. I would be willing to help out with a transition to better tools if there is interest.

jax-rx outout parameter, omit-xml-declaration key...

...has the default value of yes, as noted at http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Serialization, the XQuery Serialization does not appear to recommend/enforce a default (http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization-30/#XML_OMIT-XML-DECLARATION), but the XForms spec does (http://www.w3.org/TR/xforms11/#submit) and the recommendation in XForms spec is the default value of false (=no), which is different from the default value of yes(=true) used by BaseX. While it (the way things are) is not a major (or minor) headache (for me), if it is a minor change and can be factored in in some future release, that would be useful (it would mean I have to set one less query param if I want the default behaviour of XForms). Thanks.
