I guess you are working with Java's default XML parser? Switching to the internal parser should do the trick. You could also try to increase the maximum via system properties (see e.g. [1]).

Is there any solution when limit to the number of entity expansions is reached ?
file:/C:/FE/Data/FR.old/maj/maj2005-01_1.xml" (Line 1): The parser has encountered more than "64.000" entity expansions in this document; this is the limit imposed by the application.
