I’m an occasional user of BaseX and I like the program very much. One thing that could be improved is the treemap view. Cascaded tree maps have been proposed for better visualization of the nesting structure [1]. An example is available here [2]. I think this could help exploring the structure of XML documents better. For example, I think it takes a little too much practice and attention to the nuances to construct the tree on the right from the tree map on the left. Great software, though.
