In fact we've already thought about adding Lucene support to BaseX; the main problem is that it's close to impossible to map all XQuery Full Text features to Lucene (and the other way round), which is why we'll probably need to spend quite some time to decide what we actually expect from such an integration. Apart from that, we are also working on an enhanced version of our index [1].
For now, feel free to send us your full-text queries; in many cases, there are chances to speed up the existing queries quite a lot.
