The feature of the BasexGUI I like most is the detailed Query Info. That is a strong argument
for using the embedded editor.

or deters you, mostly from using the built-in editor or the alternatives?

We have a bunch of xquery scripts where we declare the database name as an external variable:

    declare variable $dbName external;

When testing the script during the development against a sample database with BasexGUI
this is manually changed into:

    (: declare variable $dbName external; :)

     declare variable $dbName := 'll_i_one';

The best for this would be an opportunity to define (textual) script parameters in the BaseXGUI
that are assigned to the external variables when the script is executed.
