I am able to connect to the server locally using the commands you posted.

Hi Daniel,
"bigBrother" now instead of "asf3-fileserver"
i just checked it with nmap on my machine, and it says exactly the same as yours. (with BaseX Server running and without) So dont give a lot on these results.
If you can connect local to the BaseXServer with just specify the port like:
java -cp BaseX6.jar org.basex.BaseXServer -p 1984
java -cp BaseX6.jar org.basex.BaseXClient -p 1984
and not remote like:
java -cp BaseX6.jar org.basex.BaseXClient -n host -p 1984
Then your server is wrongly configured, please check that first.
Kind regards, Andreas, BaseX Team

Hm… I'm sorry I have no idea what could be the matter. Maybe someone else out there has some clue?

hmm... If I use the 1984 port and scan with nmap the service is called "bigBrother" now instead of "asf3-fileserver", but the clients behavior is unchanged.
