I have not exceeded the limit, but then I'm not working in the DDI arena or something similar where this is a certainty.
I think that the database needs to move to a 64bit architecture to handle the large node numbers that are seen in data-centric (rather than document-centric) XML and clearly there is a similar need for those running data archives to have pratically limitless scope for namespaces
