Hi Fabrice,
I‘d probably need more details in order to give an educated guess. After all, it doesn't sound like a bug, but maybe the queries can be rewritten. Did you look at the Info View?

Dear all at BaseX,
I'm working with a 30 Go database, containing nearly 10 Millions records.
When I iterate on all these record, and get only a few informations on each, I can see in the Windows TaskManager that I/O Read bytes is nearly the database's size... but I don't read all the informations, only a few elements. Do you think this is a 'bug' in the manager, or is BaseX really reading all the data ? Maybe seeking in a file is just considered like reading in that file ?
best regards,
