Thanks for hint of webdav cliane (total commander). I will have to try it. In fact, I am living inside of Google Chrome and Total Commander.
Do not take me wrong - I think, that empty response on WebDAV url is ok. It is considered to be sw interface, not a GUI.

True; at this point, we could return some explanatory feedback. Not

Yes, that's a problem specific to the mediocre Windows WebDAV clients.
The BaseX WebDAV implementation itself is pretty fast. For 12000
files, it should usually take around 20-50 ms to deliver all meta
data.

Personally, I use Total Commander (imho, the best Windows product ever
written) and its WebDAV plugin to connect to BaseX.
