Wanting to develop and XQuery interface to proprietary DB and was hoping to use BaseX core for implementation. Is there a well-defined API for implementing such a thing, or would it be more a brute-force source-code sort of effort? Licensing implications?
Thanks!
Dear David,
we already had several discussion about "the optimal" BaseX API with Dave Glick, Eric Murphy and others [1,2], and it's still an open issue on our GitHub issue list [3]. You are invited to reinitiate this discussion, or give some more input on what the desired API should provide. Regarding licensing: this is essentially no problem, as our BaseX BSD License is completely open. It's more about finding dedicated developers who are perseverant enough to design and implement the API in question.
Everyone's feedback is welcome, Christian
