Recently upgraded to 7.7.2 from 7.6 and getting UI freeze on MacOSX when I try to open existing databases. When opening from the interactie command prompt, I get a message that the format has changed and I need to rebuild indexes. No problem if I create a new database. Anyone else experiencing similar issue? What should I do to bring existing DB to a compatible state? thanks *P
Hi Pascal,
Recently upgraded to 7.7.2 from 7.6 and getting UI freeze on MacOSX when
I try to open existing databases.
I also experienced this issue once or twice but wasn't exactly able to reproduce it on purpose. Your report simply tells me that there's indeed an issue with 7.7.2/ 7.7.3 and we should take a closer look at it - thanks for the report. Do you also experience the same freezes with the latest stable snapshot (7.8)?
When opening from the interactie command prompt, I get a message that the format has changed and I need to rebuild indexes.
I would serialize the database content to disk with 7.6 and create new databases from the exported files. Between version 7.7.2/7.7.3/7.8 the database format changes again - another reason to consider giving version 7.8 a go.
Sorry for not being of too much help here ...
Cheers, Lukas
Filed a bug report on github [1] for now ...

Lukas: Similar problem. Actually assumed it was related to the DB format as I created a new database using 7.7.2 and it then worked fine. I then closed and restarted BaseX and got the same freeze issue. But guess what, I actually can see this happening with the 7.6 jar as well. So probably a system setup related issue. One thing I did change on my system a few weeks ago was to replace the OSX 1.6 version of Java with Oracle version 1.7. Should in theory not make a difference but you never know. So basically if I open and create a new DB, it works fine. If I start and open an extsing DB, I gte the freeze. Let me know what I can do to help pinpointing the issue. best *P
