BaseX is installed by administrators on one of our server machines. When starting the http server, the followng message is displayed:
$ ./basexhttp ..../basex/bin/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/web.xml not found.
which is a bit strange since the webapp folder is a sister folder to the bin folder. So why is it looking for webapp in ..../bin/src/main/ ?
The webapp folder in itself do appear to contain all the relevant folders and documents. As it is similar to a working setup on another machine.

Hi Lars,
thanks for your observation, which sounds undesirable. Could you please tell us which distribution (zip, debian, suse, source code, ..) you are working with?
