Hi,
I'd like to start a thread regarding some technical and commercial support aspects of BaseX. The preliminary question is : is this mailing list the correct container for this topic ?

Hi Jean-Marc,
I'd like to start a thread regarding some technical and commercial support aspects of BaseX. The preliminary question is : is this mailing list the correct container for this topic ?
Yes, the mailing list is open for anything related to BaseX. If you believe that your request is too specific, we surely can take it offline as well.

Hi Christian,
No, at present time, nothing really specific. I just want to have basic informations regarding my options packaging a commercial product shipping with BaseX as Database.
As far as I understand, my first option is to ship BaseX together with its native BSD licensing. This is probably enough for my needs in a first phase, fitting for non critical apps, or POC (proof of concept) for clients.
However, I would like to know more about alternative licensing and technical support options. Looking to your clients portfolio, I guess that you provide such alternatives. Do you have a link, or a doc that could give me a first overview of these ?
Thanks for your answers,
Regards,
Jean-Marc

True; the license gives you all righs to ship BaseX in any free or commercial product, as long as the authors are mentioned in the copyright.

Just a quick answer: BSD is currently the only license we are offering. Some of our customers take advantage of our technical support when developing commercial systems with BaseX, or they attend trainings (usually 1-3 days) to learn the nuts & bolts of our technology. Due to limited time, documentation on our professional services are quite limited, but we are working on a relaunch of the commercial section (to appear on htttp://basex.io), which may provide some more information.
It may well be that you have some more questions, which are welcome to ask (either directly or on this list). Christian
I just realized that BaseX provides some basic information directly on its website : http://basex.org/services/support/. Thats just fine at present time, the important point for me is to be sure that BaseX can, if needed, enter in a contract based tech support. I will re-open this thread, or ask for direct contact, as soon as I will have more precise needs or questions.
Cheers
