Is there a way to open basex in readonly mode? Let's say you have two server pointing same basex, could one open in read mode and the other read/write mode? How could that be achieved if any?

Hello,
You could open a database session with a user having only read privileges, whereas the other session would be opened with a user having write privileges. See https://docs.basex.org/wiki/User_Management for information how to achieve this.
