I couldn't reproduce your issue in a few simple tests, so would it be possible to provide us with some more information?

- Which Version of BaseX do you use? - Can you create a Short, Self Contained, Correct (Compilable), Example (http://sscce.org/)?

I think the problem should then be easy for us to fix.
