invites applications for a *post-doc (3/4)* position in the EU financed
research project QUALITY Quality of Life in a Changing Europe (P.I.
Prof. Sonja Drobnic, PhD).
The expected starting date is *1 March 2006*. Position is pending final
budgetary approval by the European Commission.
Salary is at the level of II a BAT (3/4), with the working time of 30
hours per week. The fixed-term contract is in accordance with the §§ 57
a ff. Hochschulrahmengesetz, and is effective until *29 February 2008*.

*_Tasks:_*
Responsibilities include project-related services, in particular
conducting empirical research within the project consortium. The
position offers opportunities for autonomous research and acquirement of
scientific qualifications as well as teaching skills.
*_Task Specification:_*
Tasks include an extensive literature review of theoretical concepts of
quality of life, assessment of existing standard data sources on
objective and subjective indicators, assessment of longitudinal data
sources pertinent to measurement of quality of life in a dynamic
perspective, conducting cross-national comparative analyses of quality
of life using in particular quantitative research methods, contacts with
other international members in the consortium.
*_Qualification Requirements:_*
The candidate for the post-doc position must hold the PhD at the time of
appointment. Preference will be given to the PhD earned in Sociology but
other related social science disciplines will be considered.
Excellent skills in quantitative research methods and multivariate
statistical techniques, and excellent ability to communicate and write
in English are required. Experience with analyzing large-scale data
sets, cross-national research, as well as substantive familiarity with
topics closely related to the quality of life in Europe (i.e. working
conditions, family, migration) is desired.
