Dear colleagues,
As you know, the 11th Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA) will take place from 14th July to 18th July 2025 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
The scientific committee is now inviting researchers who are active in the field of survey research, survey methodology and data analysis to submit proposals for individual paper and poster presentations.
To be part of the conference programme, start by selecting a suitable session for your presentation. Here is a complete overview of all sessions<https://www.europeansurveyresearch.org/conf2025/sessions.php> that are being organised. The CS3 Meeting concerns research topics on innovative data collection and analysis strategies in the behavioral and social sciences. It takes place online during the summer (April-July) and winter terms (October-January) including a talk of about 30 minutes and a Q&A of about 15 minutes.
Saijal Shahania (DZHW, University of Magdeburg) talks about The bot that lived: SurveyBot's role in automated web survey pretesting<https://jkhoehne.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/CS3_meeting_SaS.pdf> on October 24, 2024, from 3:15 to 4:00 PM (CEST).
Please sign up for the meeting by October 23: https://ww3.unipark.de/uc/cs3_meeting_registration/
The next talk entitled Deceptive uses of Artificial Intelligence in elections strengthen support for AI ban<https://jkhoehne.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/CS3_meeting_AJ.pdf> is by Andreas Jungherr (Bamberg University), Adrian Rauchfleisch (Zurich University), and Alexander Wuttke (Ludwig Maximilians University) on November 14, 2024.
See you at the CS3 Meeting!
Best regards

Dear colleagues,
GESIS offers two workshops designed to enhance hypothesis evaluation and research robustness:
* Applied Multiverse Analysis with Stata and R<https://tinyurl.com/2-25-applied-multiv-analysis> (24. - 26.02.2025) addresses how researchers' analytical decisions impact hypothesis tests and research outcomes. The workshop offers a systematic approach to assess the robustness of findings across various possible analytic choices and increase the transparency of your research.
* Synthesizing Evidence: Aggregating Support for your Hypothesis across Studies<https://tinyurl.com/4-25-synth-evidence> (08. - 10.04.2025) focuses on combining findings from multiple studies, including those with heterogeneous designs. Learn to conduct systematic reviews, evaluate informative hypotheses, and aggregate support with methods beyond traditional meta-analysis.
Warning: Side effects of these workshops may include uncontrollable urges to reanalyze old data, compulsive evidence-synthesizing behavior, and improved research quality.
The complete schedule of GESIS Training courses is available online<https://training.gesis.org/>. Should you have any queries or seek further guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out (alisa.remizova(a)gesis.org<mailto:alisa.remizova@gesis.org>). Thank you for disseminating this announcement to other inquisitive minds.
May all your hypotheses come true,
Your GESIS Training Team

Dear colleagues,
As a co-organizer of the session /Building Data Collection Methods for
Hard to Study Populations/ at the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology
(https://www.isa-sociology.org/en/conferences/forum/rabat-2025 ) I
would like to again bring this session to your attention:
/This session focusses on research that explores, develops or tests
structured data collection methods that are suitable for hard to study
populations. These are populations like low literate people, people
with cognitive limitations, (mental) health challenges, or subgroups
with physical restraints like in hearing or speaking. They all have in
common to be at greater risk of communicative, cognitive and/or
motivational disabilities that may limit the application of
standardized or structured data collection methods. As a result, these
limitations may pose a threat to (survey) research validity and
reliability. If alternative, appropriate methods are not developed and
applied, such populations and subgroups continue to be under
researched and data quality will remain hampered.
While in the end the aim may be to create new methodology for
structured or even standardized (survey) research, the focus of papers
can be on theoretical, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods
developments.
In this session, we welcome theoretical and empirical contributions on
issues that are key to data collection in hard to study populations,
like:
• Cognitive and communicative processes.
• Verbal and non-verbal behaviour.
• Sensitive topics and emotional burden.
• Power differences in research.
• Interactive aspects of data collection.
• Proxy and triad interviewing.
• Visual data collection methods.
• Aided recall measures.
• Timeline and Life History Calendar tools.
• Development of tools and instruments.
Hence this session invites papers dealing with innovative data
collection approaches that seek to meet the challenges in collecting
structured data from special populations.
/
I would like to invite you all to have a look. We are looking forward
to receiving your contributions BEFORE THE 15TH OF OCTOBER.
