Einladung zum virtuellen KonsortSWD-Roundtable: „Diskussion sozio-demographischer Standardvariablen zur Verbesserung der Vergleichbarkeit zwischen deutschen Umfragestudien“

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, Sozio-demographische Variablen sind nur selten direkt über Studien hinweg vergleichbar. Dies schränkt die Interoperabilität – eines der FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) – und somit die Nachnutzbarkeit der Daten ein. Das KonsortSWD-Teilprojekt „Facilitating the combination of research data through standardised and harmonised variables“ hat zum Ziel, Ressourcen zu erarbeiten, um diese Situation für Forschende zu verbessern. Auf Grundlage eines Reviews<https://zenodo.org/record/6810973#.Y0_4MYTP2Uk> zur Erhebung sozio-demographischer Merkmale in großen deutschen Umfragen und mehrerer KonsortSWD-Roundtables 2021 und 2022 haben wir für ausgewählte sozio-demographische Merkmale aus den Bereichen Arbeitsmarkt und ökonomische Lage, kulturelle und ethnische Herkunft, Haushalt und Familie sowie für das Merkmal Bildung Vorschläge für Standardvariablen entwickelt und teilweise validiert. Unsere Vorschläge möchten wir gerne mit Ihnen diskutieren, um sie im letzten Projektjahr überarbeiten und dann publizieren zu können. Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, ich möchte gern auf eine Stellenausschreibung des Instituts für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB) im Rahmen eines Panels zur Evaluation des Teilhabechancengesetzes hinweisen und freue mich, wenn sie mögliche Interessentinnen und Interessenten darauf aufmerksam machen. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Mark Trappmann Der Forschungsbereich "Panel Arbeitsmarkt und soziale Sicherung" des Instituts für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB) sucht für die Evaluation des Teilhabechancengesetztes im Auftrag des Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales eine/-n Wissenschaftliche/-n Mitarbeiter/-in (m/w/d) in Vollzeit, befristet bis 31.12.2024 Im Rahmen des Teilprojektes werden die Wirkeffekte der Förderung auf die soziale Teilhabe und Beschäftigungsfähigkeit der Geförderten auf Basis einer eigens aufgebauten Längsschnittbefragung "Lebensqualität und Teilhabe" untersucht. Zu den Aufgaben zählen die Feldvorbereitung und -organisation (inkl. Fragebogenentwicklung) der Längsschnittstudie. Des Weiteren beteiligt sich die erfolgreiche Bewerberin / der erfolgreiche Bewerber an Forschung und Politikberatung auf Basis der erhobenen Daten. Die Ergebnisse dieser Forschung werden sowohl in einschlägigen wissenschaftlichen Journalen publiziert als auch für Adressaten in Politik, Praxis und Massenmedien aufbereitet. In addition to a broad range of research on spatial mobilities, the workshop “Current Perspectives on Spatial Mobilities” will focus on current issues such as the digital transformation, COVID-19 and refugee migration, as well as innovations in data and methods for studying spatial mobilities. Your research interest lies in these fields, and you are lacking empirical data? We invite you to submit your research to the GESIS Panel to conduct a population survey in Germany free of charge. The GESIS Panel offers researchers the opportunity to collect longitudinal and cross-sectional data in a mixed-mode (online and postal mail) panel. We offer high data quality through intensive panel management. The probabilistic sample consists of about 5,000 respondents who are interviewed every three months on a wide variety of topics. Dear members of the list, Join the discussion on the challenges for the public good statistics within the fast-changing world of data in our free workshop series in Munich from October 10th to 13th, 2022. Explore the DNA of official statistics, what quality means and how to achieve it. In the workshops by former Eurostat general director Walter J. Radermacher (LMU Munich), you will work directly with national and international use cases, applying a reflective view on official statistics from the perspective of various statistical stakeholders. Julia Lane (NYU), former senior advisor at the White House, will show you how a secure data sharing platform can serve as a blueprint towards collaborative activities to accelerate evidence-building. The workshop features hands-on examples of how training classes were implemented in the US, leading to a discussion on possible applications in Germany. You can register for the workshops individually, but we recommend participating in the whole series, which includes access to introductory online videos. The fourth Swiss Stata Conference takes place on 18 November 2022 at the Universität Bern. Several speakers have already been confirmed, among them are David Schenck from Stata Corp on Bayesian time series models, Achim Ahrens from ETH Zurich on machine learning, Jan Ditzen from Free University of Bozen-Bolzano on network regressions, and Blaise Melly from University of Bern on panel quantile regression. Call for Presentations ---------------------- If you are interested in presenting, submit an abstract of no more than 200 words (ASCII text, no math symbols) to the scientific committee (ben.jann(a)unibe.ch), including a short, informative title. Indicate whether you wish to be considered for a 10-minute or 20-minute presentation (both to be followed by 5 minutes for questions). Include your name, affiliation, and phone number. If your presentation has multiple authors, please identify the presenter. Presenters will be asked to provide the organizers with electronic materials (a copy of the presentation and any programs or datasets, where applicable). The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2022.
