For its post-graduate training programme IMPALLA (International Master in Social Policy Analysis by Luxembourg, Leuven and Associate institutes) CEPS/INSTEAD has a vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher in the social sciences. URL addresses: www.ceps.lu. www.impalla.ceps.lu Together with the University of Leuven (Belgium) and in collaboration with the Universities of Tilburg (NL), Nancy2 (Fr) and Luxembourg (L), CEPS/INSTEAD is organising an advanced academic training programme in Social Policy Analysis, taught in English. This IMPALLA-programme combines three perspectives: the study of broad socio-economic policies in a European, comparative and supra-national setting, advanced training in research methodology and expertise in policy evaluation and in the application of relevant techniques. Every year, the programme starts around September 1st. It is taught mainly in Differdange (Luxembourg), but in the Spring term (February April) students stay in Leuven. JOB DESCRIPTION · Member of a team of 4 assistant professors you will be responsible for the tutoring of the students of the IMPALLA-programme. This may comprise: further elaboration of the taught courses by means of developing illustrative exercises for the students (case-studies, expert-meetings, etc.), supervising the students while executing these exercises (both individually or in a group), acting as an intermediary between students and professors, giving guidance to (a small group of) students while they are writing their masters dissertation, being involved in the administration of the programme · You will get a major part (with a maximum of 50%) of your time for personal research activities (in the field of social policy analysis). PROFILE · You should hold a Ph.D. degree in the Social Sciences. The Impalla programme is especially looking for: · a postdoctoral sociologist or economist with a focus on social policy, empirical social research, methodology and statistics and/or (social) policy evaluation. · You should be flexible both in terms of working hours and working place. As an intermediate between students and professors, you will be available to both, sometimes even outside office hours. Moreover, you are supposed to follow the students during their three months stay at the University of Leuven. · You should have an organisational ability and excellent communication skills in English (both oral and written). Moreover, you should have a positive attitude and, since you are part of a team, you must be a team player, but capable of taking initiatives . · You like working with graduate students and professors of diverse scientific, cultural and national backgrounds.
