Join Us in Mexico City: WAPOR 2026 Abstracts Due 30 April

Dear WAPOR members, subscribers, and friends,

With the abstract submission deadline just around the corner on 30 April, we wanted to send a warm reminder — and a gentle nudge — to finalize and submit your work for the 79th Annual WAPOR Conference.

This year's gathering, "Public Opinion Research in an Emerging Multipolar World Order," invites us to rethink our theories, methods, and interpretive frameworks for a world where economic and political power are increasingly distributed across regions. Mexico City — bridging North and South, and shaped by a vibrant tradition of public debate — offers the ideal setting for these conversations. Whether your work examines shifting global publics, methodological innovation, polarization, trust, or the plurality of voices shaping the twenty-first century public sphere, your perspective will enrich the dialogue.

What to expect at the conference?

The program opens with a full day of training workshops, with sessions offered in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Three days of parallel sessions follow, anchored by keynote lectures and panel discussions on the most pressing questions facing our field. A welcome reception will open the conference — time to reconnect with old colleagues and meet new ones. The poster and sponsors exhibitions run throughout, offering another setting for networking and exchange. There is also space to engage with WAPOR itself. The business meeting is an open window onto how the association works and how to get involved, and national representatives and WAPOR committees will hold their own gatherings. We close with an awards banquet — a moment to celebrate excellence in our field and the company of colleagues from around the world.

And beyond the conference: the timing could hardly be better. The Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix runs 30 October – 1 November, the day after we close, and Día de Muertos falls on 1–2 November — one of the most extraordinary cultural experiences anywhere in the world. Mexico City is also home to world-class museums, from the Museo Nacional de Antropología to the Frida Kahlo Museum and the Museo Soumaya. We encourage you to plan a few extra days!

If your abstract is nearly ready, now is the moment to polish and send it. If you have been weighing whether to submit, please do — we would love to have your contribution, and first-time presenters are especially welcome. Every voice matters in shaping what this conference becomes.
