CALL FOR PAPERS

European Values Study Workshop: Understanding Value Patterns in Europe

June 30 – July 1 (arrival June 29, departure July 2)

Faculty of Philosophy, Vilnius University, Vilnius, Lithuania

The European Values Study is a unique survey research project in all 45 countries of Europe on how Europeans think about life, family, work, religion, politics and society (see www.europeanvaluesstudy.eu). The integrated data file of the most recent European Values Study wave is now available and can be obtained free of charge at Gesis Data Archive for the Social Sciences in Cologne through their online download and analysis facility ZACAT.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Philosophy, Vilnius University, will focus on this data set and calls for papers in which explanatory comparisons are made using modernization and institutionalization theories.

We invite scholars to reflect and elaborate on such theories, derive hypotheses from them and to empirically test these theories in the various value domains, preferably using multi level models.

Procedure

Send an abstract of your paper. The deadline is March 1, 2011.  The abstract should include the research question and the main hypotheses of the paper. Decisions about acceptance will be taken by March 15.
