The Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging (MEA) seeks a full-time Field Project Manager for the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). SHARE is the first data set to combine extensive cross-national information on socio-economic status, health, and family relationships of Europes elder population. The 2004 baseline study contains information on some 25,000 individuals aged 50 and older from 17,000 households in 11 countries (Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Greece further data are currently being collected Israel). An extension of SHARE to two Central European countries as well as a longitudinal follow-up study is planned for 2006 (the projects total duration is scheduled to be 32 months). For this data collection enterprise, we are looking for a survey specialist who will co-ordinate the field work procedures in the participating countries. His/her main task will be to facilitate the communication between the SHARE co-ordination team at MEA and the country teams and to monitor the work of the survey agencies. Applicants should have a university degree in economics, social sciences, public health, epidemiology, demography, statistics, or a related field. Experience with the collection of quantitative micro-data and/or experience in international projects and some language skills are highly desirable.
