Hi All,
I am still looking for people at the PostDoc or Doc level to help out with project work and teaching.
Attached is the job ad I put on Linguist List — Deadline was for today, but I’m extending it a little to mid April. If you know of anybody or are interested yourself, let me know!
Cheers,
Miriam

Title: Open-rank position available in Computational Linguistics (TVL-13 salary scale)
The Computational Linguistics group at the University of Konstanz has open
positions. At the postdoctoral level, we have need of teaching as as well as
research. Teaching and research could be combined into one postdoctoral position
(50% research, 50% teaching) for two years. At the doctoral level we can
alternatively offer a 3-year 65% doctoral research position.
Our current research projects encompass work on framing, argumentation and the
automatic detection of non-canonical questions. We are looking for people
interested in combining symbolic with machine learning approaches. We are also
particularly looking for researchers with knowledge of Spanish for a project on
"Mobilising Inequalities". The project is part of the Excellence Cluster "The
Politics of Inequality" (https://www.exc.uni-konstanz.de/en/inequality/).
Overall our work involves the identification, analysis and automatic extraction
of linguistic cues for NLP applications that support research into how arguments
and issues are framed. The non-canonical questions work is part of the FOR 2111
"Questions at the Interfaces"
(https://typo.uni-konstanz.de/questionsInterfaces/), argumentation as part of
the SPP RATIO
(http://ratio.sc.cit-ec.uni-bielefeld.de/projects-phase-2/cuepaq/).
Our staff works closely with researchers from Political Science and Visual
Analytics, providing interesting and fruitful scope for interdisciplinary and
collaborative work.
On the teaching side, our popular MA "Speech and Language Processing" requires
teaching in the following areas: Machine-Language Processing (overview course)
Finite-State Morphology, Corpus Linguistics with Python, Deep Learning with
Python, Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG), Grammar Development (LFG),
Computational Semantics. Pre-set syllabi and material exist for all of these
courses. A 100% teaching position comes with 8 hours of teaching
(equivalent to about 3-4 courses a semester).
Positions are available as of April 1, 2022.
Requirements:
Postdoctoral applicants should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) and applicants
at the doctoral level should have an MA degree. Both should be in the areas of
computational linguistics or linguistics. The applicants should be
well versed in linguistic analysis and possess programming skills. Knowledge of
Python is particularly relevant.
