Swiss Stata Users Group meeting 2018 ==================================== The Swiss Stata Users Group meeting 2018 will be held on 25 October 2018 at ETH Zurich. The meeting provides Stata users from across Switzerland and the world the opportunity to share experiences with the software and information on new commands. David M. Drukker, Executive Director of Econometrics at StataCorp, will attend, and there will be the usual "Wishes and grumbles" session, at which you may air your thoughts to Stata developers. Anyone interested in Stata is welcome. Call for presentations ---------------------- Does your research rely on Stata? Do you have insights that would enlighten colleagues in your field? Prepare your abstract for the 2018 Swiss Stata Users Group meeting. Nutzerkonferenz "Forschen mit dem Mikrozensus" - Analysen zur Sozialstruktur und zum sozialen Wandel findet am 27. - 28. November 2018 in Mannheim statt. Die 9. Nutzerkonferenz widmet sich der Untersuchung der Sozialstruktur und des sozialen Wandels in Deutschland. Es werden auf Basis des Mikrozensus gewonnene neuere Forschungsergebnisse vorgestellt und diskutiert. Darüber hinaus ist die Konferenz ein Forum für den Erfahrungsaustausch der Datennutzer/innen untereinander sowie mit den Vertreter/innen der amtlichen Statistik. Sie wendet sich an Forscher, die bereits mit dem Mikrozensus arbeiten oder mit diesen Daten zukünftig arbeiten wollen. ***Apologies for cross-posting*** Dear colleagues, The German Society for Online Research (DGOF) is proud to announce its inaugural Best Paper Award for outstanding scientific contributions in online research. The DGOF by-laws define “online research” as any type of research about computers or other devices that are connected by a network, in particular the Internet. Online research includes online based data collection (e.g., web surveys in online panels), mobile research with smartphones, tablets, and wearables, and the collection and analysis of social media data, administrative data, data from passive measurements, and other Big Data sources. The prize will be awarded to a paper that provides a fundamental scientific contribution to the advancement of the methods of online research. Topics that are suitable for the award can be found in the program of the annual General Online Research (GOR) conference (www.gor.de). Both theoretical/conceptual and empirical/methodological papers are considered for the award. Papers that do not focus on online research but, for example, merely use online data collection (e.g., through a web survey) to answer a substantive research question will not be considered. To be considered for the award, papers must be published in an outlet that uses a peer-review process (e.g., peer-reviewed journal, full papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, refereed book chapter) at the time of submission. Papers written in German or English and published not earlier than 2017 (if the paper was published online-first, then the online-first publication date counts) can be submitted for the DGOF Best Paper Award 2019.
